If you’ve got a big night out coming up, you will want to look your very best. If you’re a busy mom like me, chances are you don’t go out all that often. So why not make the most of it by really dressing up and getting ready to paint the town red? I’ve got 15 tips here you can use to up your game!

1. Apply a Layer of Tan

If you want a slimmer, more defined look on your night out, a layer of tan can help you. Providing you prepare the skin properly before you apply it, it can give you a natural golden glow that helps you to look much healthier. Ensure you use a mitt to apply, and moisturise the day before so that the tan doesn’t streak. With most tans you can see where you’ve applied as you go along, making it easier.

2. Get a Leg Wax

A leg wax will make your legs look much smoother, and is great for special occasions. However, you should have this done quite a few days before your outing, just incase you get redness and sensitivity.

3. Watch Tutorials Before You Do Your Makeup

If you’re a little clueless when it comes to makeup, I find it really helpful to watch tutorials before I go out. I consider the kind of look I’m going to try to create, and then type that into the search bar in YouTube. You can do your makeup along with the video or put your own spin on things. Youtube is my favourite place for makeup tips when I get to go out!

4. Use the Right Products in Your Hair

Use the right products in your hair to get the finish you want. Oils applied when wet will add shine, and volumising spray will give a fuller look. Make sure you’re using products after washing rather than just leaving it clean. Clean hair will not hold a style all night long!

5. Don’t Neglect Your Nails

Having nice nails will finish off your look nicely. They really do make a difference! You should paint your fingers and toes so that they match, or have a french manicure if you prefer. Whatever you do, don’t leave them chipped and untidy. Make sure they’re all the same length and shape too.

6. Choose an Outfit that Flatters Your Figure

When you go out, make sure you wear an outfit that flatters your figure nicely. Know what your shape is and look at outfits that suit it. You can find so much information online, you have no excuse for wearing something that doesn’t make you look amazing!

7. Use Natural False Lashes

I always recommend wearing natural false lashes when going out. They will give your lashes just the right amount of length and volume. They make your eyes stand out, especially when you’re posing for pictures! Don’t underestimate the power of a natural lash. Just make sure you’re careful when applying them, as they can be tricky if you haven’t done them before.

8. Have Your Brows Done

Have your eyebrows done a few days before you go out. I recommend a shape and tint from a reputable salon, to give them nice definition. HD brows are a good call, but they can be quite expensive. The eyebrows frame the face, so don’t neglect them!

9. Whiten Your Teeth

You want to be able to show off a confident smile when you go out, so whiten your teeth. You can do this easily at home with whitening strips – no need to spend a ridiculous amount of money at the dentist!

10. Dust Bronzer Over Your Body

When you’ve finished getting ready, dust a nice amount of bronzer over your shoulders and legs, giving you an extra sheen and glow!

11. Start Your Hair the Day Before

Instead of doing your hair on the day, start it the day before. Wash and blow dry it before applying sleep in rollers. When styling the next day, you’ll have so much more volume and it’ll really last! You can then curl or straighten your hair, but make sure you don’t touch the root so you keep the bounce. You can do pretty much anything with a Paul Mitchell hair straightener.

12. Watch Your Diet in the Days Coming Up

Make sure you watch your diet in the days coming up to the night out. Make sure you don’t eat any foods that are too heavy in fat and carbs, such as takeaways. You don’t want to risk looking bloated in pictures!

13. Invest in Shapewear

Shapewear can help to hold you in and create curves in all of the right places. In a matter of seconds, you can have a flat tummy and a waist! I recommend investing in a brand like Spanx, as they really work! They help to create an all over smoother look.

14. Wear Shoes to Lengthen Your Legs

If you’re wearing black tights, wear black shoes. If you have bare legs, wear nude shoes. These shoes will help you to look taller and create the illusion of a longer leg. You’ll look lean and amazing in your pictures!

15. Don’t Forget to Accessorize

Forgetting to accessorize is one of the worst things you can do. Something as simple as a sparkly bangle or ring can make a difference to your outfit. Making sure you add texture with your bag is a good idea too, and will add interest to your outfit. It’s the small details like this that will make all the difference and pull your look together!
