Disclosure of Material Connection: I received one or more of the products or services mentioned below for free in the hope that I would mention it on my blog. Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and/ or believe will be good for my readers. I am disclosing this in accordance with the Federal Trade Commission's 16 CFR, Part 255: "Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising."

BeginAgain_sub_logo_onDetails: “BeginAgain was founded on the principles, ideas, and inventions of Benjamin Barlowe, an early 20th century inventor from Fort Collins. Ben’s fantastic tales and astute observations of his grandchildren, Zadie and Fuller, are the inspiration behind our products. His archive overflows with tinkered toys, playful mechanisms, and incredible stories filled with nostalgia, history, and lessons on how things used to be.

Created by toymakers David Bowen and Chris Clemmer–two of the co-founders of Sprig Toys–BeginAgain is focused on thoughtful product design and imaginative storytelling for today’s kids. It is our goal to inspire children with stories of invention, adventure, and good old-fashioned fun. BeginAgain toys teach through play and nurture the development of the whole child.”

In simple words? They make beautiful toys that will inspire while withstanding the test of time!

Personal Experience: I was originally intrigued by the concepts discussed on BeginAgain’s page regarding the 5 styles of play that I child engages in: Artist, Writer, Inventor, Sportster, and Hero. It was this deep understanding of how children play that encouraged me to contact them about their products. They very generously provided me with the Artist on the Go Kit to review.

From the sturdy, well-stitched carrying case made of natural cotton to the perfectly sharpened colored pencils, I could tell instantly that this was a quality-made toy and that this company takes pride in its products. The kit comes with everything a budding artist could need. It all packs away neatly into the case, which has a pocket  or loop for everything.

Well, it all looks pretty, but I bet your wondering how it handles a kid, right? Despite the destructive skill of a typical toddler, the Artist on the Go Kit passed with flying colors… and flying colored pencils! He was able to draw beautiful scribbles and swirls without so much as breaking the tip of a pencil. The templates intrigued him and I was impressed with how quickly he figured out what they are for. He had fun tracing the edges and filling in the openings. It gave us a great opportunity to learn about shapes, too!

The whole kit all fit quickly back into its case and traveled with us very easily. It tucked right into my bag and I was able to pull it out at restaurants and other times when we were sitting around and he started to get antsy.

It’s great to put aside the gadgets and gizmos and return to simple creative playtime. I had fun grabbing a pencil and drawing with my son and I look forward to many more artistic moments with him. Overall, I would highly recommend this toy and this company. If this kit is a true representation of their offerings, you will not be disappointed!

Pros: Beautifully made. Everything tuck away into a handy travel case. The case is compact enough to easily take along in your purse or diaper bag. Would be an awesome gift for birthdays or Christmas.

Cons: The product description said soy crayons, but we received colored pencils. This may be a negative for some… personally, I prefer colored pencils. I wish there was a way to order refills for the notebooks and crayons/ pencils.
