I’ve been experimenting a bit with essential oils, so I was on the hunt for a quality carrier oil. I was given the opportunity to review Majestic Pure fractionated coconut oil at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
I’ve used the fractionated coconut oil on its own and with peppermint and lavender essential oils. This fractionated coconut oil is very pure and light. It has a wonderful light natural aroma that does not interfere with the scent of the oils. I used it mixed with lavender and rubbed into the temples for headache relief. It dried quickly and did not cause acne or other breakouts in that area.
It worked well and did not brown or burn when combined with peppermint and lavender oil in a low heat oil warmer. The fractionated coconut oil did not evaporate and I was able to add additional essential oil to it over the course of several days. It provided a pleasant, clean, relaxing aroma.
We also used it for massage. When combined with peppermint oil, it provided relief for aching muscles. It didn’t leave the skin feeling oily and absorbed quickly. There was a slight sticky sensation to the skin, though… something I also noticed when used on its own as a moisturizer.
Despite the usefulness as a carrier oil with the essential oils I’ve begin experimenting with, I found it lacking in its claim as a moisturizer. I found the solid organic coconut oils is far better suited to this use. Though the oil is lightweight and absorbs quickly, it just left skin feeling slightly sticky and not well moisturized.
I found the container poorly designed for the uses of this product. You’re likely to be using it in smaller quantities, but the mouth is quite large. It reminded me of a soda bottle. The free pump they included was a nice idea, but it was honestly just a mess! It leaked even when I wasn’t pumping anything from the bottle. I would clean up the entire bottle only to find it coated in oil and sitting in a small puddle the next morning. It’s enough of a problem that I would raise my rating by a whole star if there were improvements in the packaging.
I had a little bit of an issue with the shipping as well. Luckily it didn’t leak much except on itself… and it was the only thing in the package… but the cap was not fully on and the seal inside had come up slightly. It was just enough to allow some leakage. If the box had been jostled much more, I probably would have received one very oily box.
Pros: Great as a carrier oil for essential oils. Light on the skin. Doesn’t stain. Very clean and clear.
Cons: Leaky container. Runnier than expected. Not very effective as a moisturizer.

- Is an excellent moisturizer and is fantastic for soothing skin rashes, irritations and inflammation.
- Is also excellent for helping to fight acne.
- Is also superb for soothing chapped lips, and skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
- Has a longer shelf life, is more stable and generally less is used compared to the other types of coconut oil.
