Personal Experience: There are a growing number of children’s subscription-based boxes out there and it can be tough to sort through them. I was really excited to discover Animal Trackers. Designed for age 3+, it was one of very few that I found for Xander’s age range. It’s typically that time between toddler and school-age when you struggle to find things that challenge your child without it going over their heads. Animal Trackers fits right in that gap with a fun monthly subscription that takes your child on a journey to track a new animal each month. I received the Animal Trackers Club Introduction Box and the first month box for the purpose of this view. It will give me an opportunity to help you get acquainted with what your child would receive with the Animal Trackers program.

I was amazed by how much came with the kits. The initial introduction package includes a sturdy lunch box for storing the items your child will soon receive. There were foam animal stickers, a animal track pencil, a ring for storing the “animal tracks,” and a set of animal cards which offer a variety of options for learning. It’s probably one of the most complete introductory kits I’ve come across for a subscription program like this. There’s actually something to use and play with that first month!

The first Animal Trackers animal package was Zebra. The package contained the zebra tracks card to go on the ring I mentioned above. It also included a very informative sheet of zebra facts. Even Mommy and Daddy learned something new! There was also a figurine, magnet, mask, and learning activities. Xander had the mask on almost immediately (it was snapped away just after I got a photo of the contents) and we had a little zebra running about for days!

I was really impressed with the activities available in the kit. It wasn’t just a bunch of boring facts. Animal Trackers found a way to cross subjects and introduce math, reading, and art skills with the topic. One sheet had Xander drawing the correct number of stripes on each zebra. I loved that it included both the digits and the written words for numbers, because we are currently working on sight words. The other worksheet involved matching the uppercase and lowercase letters with words that started with those letters. My only wish here would be for a few extra Animal Trackers worksheets, because Xander really had fun with them.

The hands-on activity used “Magic Nuudles” that you moisten and attach to the page. It was a skill that helped with motor function while giving Xander a chance to get creative… and it produced a fun piece of artwork for the fridge.

Bode Bear, the Animal Trackers mascot, is a cute companion on your child’s trek. I would love to see them market a stuffed version of Bode Bear, because he’s just so adorable and would make a wonderful “real life” companion as well.

Overall, this is a subscription I could really get behind. Each month of Animal Trackers includes a play animal figurine, information on the animal, a foam mask, track card, art activity, and learning activity… so lots to keep a child busy. I’m already checking the ol’ budget to find room for it. It’s a package that Xander, Mommy, and Daddy would be thrilled to see in our mailbox each month!

Pros: Lots included with the kit. Great for pre-readers. Fun activities that teach several subjects.

Cons: Price with shipping is high, but you get more than I typically see in these subscriptions.

    • It was the best kid-themed box we’ve received… if not the best overall. I’m a bit of an addict, too. 😉
