With the new year, it’s time to once again use the fresh start to get back on track. The end of last year had me in a flutter of activity and I ended up neglecting myself. I have reset my stats on SparkPeople and I am jumping back in. I had heard they now have several books, so I went looking…
This is their original book and tells the inspiring story of the creator. They’ve updated it with a new section, too.

They also wrote a quick-start guide. It is quite a popular book, but a lot of people say it’s geared toward the dieting newbie.
The Spark Solution by Becky Hand
From the experts behind the New York Times bestseller The Spark and the creators of SparkPeople.com comes The Spark Solution, a breakthrough two-week diet program to help you lose weight and optimize your health.
The Spark Solution is a dynamic, comprehensive, and proven program. With an introduction by Chris Downie, founder and CEO of SparkPeople, this day-by-day guide combines the latest data and strategies on nutrition, incredibly delicious recipes, and essential workouts. The experts at SparkPeople designed this easy-to-follow regimen to deliver effective and sustainable weight loss.
Thousands have already tried it, lost weight, and discovered a path to healthy living. SparkPeople have taken all the questions and bumps in the road out of the equation with The Spark Solution. There is no better way to lose weight and no better time than right now. Let these first two weeks transform your life.
And then there is the popular cookbook…
This practical yet inspirational guide, which is based on the same easy, real-world principles as the SparkPeople program, takes the guesswork out of making delicious, healthy meals and losing weight-once and for all. Award-winning chef Meg Galvin and SparkRecipes editor Stepfanie Romine have paired up to create this collection of more than 160 satisfying, sustaining, and stress-free recipes that streamline your healthy-eating efforts. With a focus on real food, generous portions, and great flavor, these recipes are not part of a fad diet. They aren’t about spending money on obscure ingredients, eliminating key components of a balanced diet, or slaving away for hours at the stove. They are about making smart choices and eating food you love to eat. But this is more than just a collection of recipes-it’s an education. The SparkPeople philosophy has always been about encouraging people to achieve personal goals with the help and support of others. And this cookbook works in the just the same way. Along with the recipes, you’ll find step-by-step how-tos about the healthiest, most taste-enhancing cooking techniques; lists of kitchen essentials; and simple ingredient swaps that maximize flavor, while cutting fat and calories, plus you’ll read motivational SparkPeople success stories from real members who have used these recipes as part of their life-changing transformations. So whether you’re a novice taking the first steps to improve your health or a seasoned cook just looking for new, healthy recipes to add to your repertoire, this cookbook is for you. Learn to love your food, lose the weight, and ditch the diet forever!
It seems like a good collection of books to help me achieve my goals. I may not be a dieting newbie, but I think The Spark Solution might be one of my best tools for getting back on track… sort of a diet boot camp.
