Details: Zipz Shoes are the first truly interchangeable shoe. The “Covers” are removable and interchangeable. Simply purchase a completed pair of Zipz and then accessorize your footwear purchase with more Zipz Covers now or in the future! You can match any Zipz Cover with the same size Zipz Soul to create one of a kind mix and match shoes to suit whatever mood you’re in. Not to mention buying Zipz Covers is easier on the wallet than buying more full pairs of shoes, so adding to your footwear collection is a zip! Whether it’s fashion, function, or fun Zipz shoes have it covered.
Personal Experience: After my first experience with Zipz Shoes, I was very excited when they gave me an opportunity to try out another pair as part of the Holiday Gift Guide. I still wear my Cali Classic Lo-Tops several times a week. I thought it would be fun to try out one of their other styles on this round… the Cali Classics Slip-On. I got the Americana and the Dragon Rose covers.
I absolutely LOVE the Americana cover style… enough so that I want to get them in Lo-Tops too. It’s a subtle homage to the flag that would work well with outfits all year long. You know I’ll be rockin’ them next Independence Day! I was actually impressed that the design was almost identically mirrored between the two shoes. For someone with a tiny obsession with symmetry, this was a big deal. As I mentioned, it’s subtle. I’m all for a graphic flag tee or stars and stripes swimsuit, but sometimes you want to wear something that doesn’t make you look like a walking parade float. I really want this design in a tee. Can we make that happen, Zipz?
You know I love the Dragon Rose design as well. The dragons are more of an Oriental-style dragon and I tend to favor the fantasy-style dragon, but the vibrant rose and yellow colors with the contrasting black trim is a shoe statement piece.
I’m still obsessed with the zippers. They give you the mechanism necessary to change the covers, but they also add a unique touch to the design. It’s quite funny how many people ask me what the charms on my shoes say… and even more fun to show them what those “charms” do. It’s not often people ask you to take your shoes off in public. 😉
The “Souls” are no less comfortable than they always were. I can be on my feet for hours and feel like I’m wearing a shoe specifically designed for standing all day. It’s not common to find that in a shoe with this classic canvas style. My only complaint this time around was that the shoes slipped off my heel quite a bit. They are the same size as my last pair of Zipz. Oddly enough, when I put my new Slip-On covers onto the soles of my Lo-Tops, the slipping stopped… so I think it’s a matter of variations in the manufacturing process.
I am sad to say that they no longer offer kid’s sizing, but us adults need a little fun that’s just for us sometimes!
Pros: Unique and interchangeable shoes that allow you to quickly change your shoes to match your mood. Comfortable. Well-made with neat stitching, sturdy zippers, and durable soles. Classic style appropriate for men and women. Easy to wash the covers.
Cons: This particular style did not fit as well… the heel of the cover slipped and rubbed. The zippers can snag a bit the first several times you use them, but they loosen up a bit with use.
