{Knit Stitches} Garter Stitch Stripe

knitstitch_garterstripeNotes: The Garter Stitch Stripe is a very simple way to create very bold stripes. Varying the number of stockinette rows (1 & 2) or garter rows (3 & 4) can drastically alter the appearance. Consider the dramatic effect of creating varied stripes on a scarf, afghan, or garment.

Stitch Count: Any number of stitches.

Written Instructions:

  • Row 1 (RS): Knit.
  • Row 2 (WS): Purl.
  • Row 3 & 4: Knit.
  • Repeat rows 1 through 4 to desired length.
