I’ve been having fun with color and I wanted to get another pair of socks on the needles, so I pulled out the KnitPicks Stroll Brights in Pucker and Vibrant Violet. They’ve been in my stash for ages. It’s also a chance to try the new square needles from Knitter’s Pride (affiliate link). I had enjoyed the larger ones so much that I bought some in sock size (2mm). My plan is to do one sock with pink as the main color and purple as the contrast. The other sock will be the opposite with purple as the main color and pink as the contrast.

I’m using the same old basic pattern I generated in Sock Wizard years ago. I always add ribbing along the whole sock for a better fit, but I decided to reduce it to a band down the middle of the top of the foot rather than having ribbing on the entire top. You’ve probably recognized this sock from my Round Heel Tutorial. 😉 Loving the square needles, by the way. They are more comfortable in my hands and they don’t roll away when I set one down.

I debated several times but settled on making these ankle length. It just seemed on trend… especially with the bright colors. It should also allow for me to wear them a bit into spring without getting too hot. I’m really looking forward to getting started on the contrasting sock to see how they look together.

I’m actually rather impressed with myself for finishing these so fast! I haven’t knit this fast in ages, but I was enjoying the colors and I really wanted them done before spring started. It took forever to get my camera set right to take an accurate picture of the colors. My camera liked to make them look much brighter.
