After many, many requests and lots of dawdling, I have finally decided to give it a go and create a series of knitting tutorials. This first one will be video only (at this time) because it’s so much easier to understand in motion. I understand that it’s not always convenient for people to watch videos, so I will be doing both photo and video tutorials whenever possible.

To start knitting, we need to get the yarn on the needle! This first cast on is known as the long-tail. It is probably the most commonly used and most diverse. I use it for nearly every project from socks and gloves to scarves and blankets.

I hope you found this video helpful. We’ll be covering the knit stitch in our next knitting tutorial.
