She grew up with a natural talent for making friends with both cats and dogs. She loved to train them, care for them, and play with them.
Journey was also a bookish child. She never lost the love of reading that she had as a toddler. The success of her parents awarded Journey with many opportunities including the best schools and tools to further her education. It’s probably no surprise that she was a straight-A student.
Late in her childhood, her parents made a decision to move away from the city. Journey’s mom had been getting sick constantly and her doctors advised her that some fresh air may do her some good. It also turned out to be a world of good for Journey too. Their new home of Brindleton Bay was a pet-lovers dream. There was a dog park down the road, an amazing park across the street, and pets roaming the streets. Her cousin Lucian even lived right next door with his fox Tuck. He was quite a bit older than Journey, but he was like a cool uncle to her and he shared her love for animals.
The stray dog Dakota joined their family when Journey was a teen. Some surprise puppies joined the family a short time later… guess they should have had Tara and Dakota fixed! 😉 Journey was thrilled, though. She spent all of her free time caring for the new little pups. She was devastated when Mom and Dad said the puppies had to find new homes.
Though Journey loved Dakota, the bond between her and Tara was something special. They had grown up together. If Journey was there, it was almost certain that Tara would be too.
Journey took Tara with her when she moved out. She was a piece of home and was there for Journey when times got tough… and they would get tough.
