It’s always nice to have pretty dishes to display your meals in. Dessert is probably a favorite for many people and it can be a challenge to find just the right bowl for showcasing your tasty treats. I was given the opportunity to review the Francois et Mimi Ice Cream Bowl set in exchange for my honest opinion.
The bowls arrived packaged in a white box showcasing the contents. I was a little disappointed that the box was a bit damaged, but with my experiences here with shipping I can’t blame Francois et Mimi. The contents were sandwiched between circles of corrugated material that kept them well-protected and free from damage.
These bowl instantly found their way into every aspect of our day. They are just that right size for so much! Xander loves to have his morning oatmeal or cereal in “my green bowl” and I’ve found them great for breakfast too. The pretty pastels liven up a boring breakfast! We’ve used them for a bowl of cottage cheese or fruit alongside our lunches and dinners, too. And, of course, they have been wonderful for desserts… serving everything from ice cream to cake.
They are dishwasher and microwave safe, so you can warm a dessert or cook your oatmeal directly in the bowl. I have also been able to put the bowls in the freezer to chill them before ice cream. The sturdy, thick walls of these stoneware dishes hold the chill really well! They wash up easily in the dishwasher. I have kept them to the top shelf because of their size, but they are safe for anywhere in the dishwasher. No signs of wear or chipping at all… even when they’ve gotten clanged against other dishes or each other. They stack nicely inside of each other for easy storage.
I’m a little confused by their claim that these bowls are in six colors. There are two purple bowls. There might be a slight variation in the color. One is slightly darker when under certain lighting, but it looks more like a natural variation that you typically see in stoneware and not like an intentionally different color. I would have rather seen them do another pastel color option like a sherbet orange. It’s not a big enough issue to affect my rating.
Overall, they are lovely little bowls that are sized just right for a large variety of things. They are pretty enough to show off a favorite dessert at a party with family and friends, but sturdy enough for a bowl of cereal every morning. I would love to try more Francois et Mimi if they are all of such great quality!
Pros: Fun colors. Sized just right. Durable. Works well with other dinnerware. Stackable. Dishwasher and microwave safe.
Cons: Not quite six different colors.
