Musing Mondays from Should Be Reading asks you to muse about one of the following each week…
• Describe one of your reading habits.
• Tell us what book(s) you recently bought for yourself or someone else, and why you chose that/those book(s).
• Tell us what you’re reading right now — what you think of it, so far; why you chose it; what you are (or, aren’t) enjoying it.
My Answer: I’ll be musing on how I chose the next books I will be reading.
I have recently begun to add book reviews to my repertoire. My most recent review and the book that I just completed earlier today was A Shade of Vampire. You can read my review here. I have also begun to join a few “book blasts,” which are giving me the opportunity to explore new books that I may not have read otherwise and share those titles with my readers… occasionally with the bonus of a giveaway!
It is strange to go from reviewing products to books. There’s a similarity, but I think that books are a much more personal taste than everyday products. I can tell you about how great a product works and there’s a pretty good chance you’ll get the same or similar results. With books, it’s different. If I tell you I loved a book you could very easily hate the same book, even if it is very well written, because it just isn’t a genre you enjoy or a topic that piques your interest.
I hope that you will enjoy my take on book reviewing. Feel free to share any suggestions you have for ways I can improve on my reviews… books or otherwise.
