I received a free PR copy of the following movie in the hopes that I would share my honest opinion. All opinions are my own.
Emma, a brilliant but awkward app designer, moves to San Francisco after a massive betrayal by her boyfriend with only her beloved pets, an adorable cat and an energetic mutt, in tow. One night, drawn by the light of a Supermoon, Emma’s pets escape into the night and are transformed into full-grown men, forcing Emma to reconsider her outlook on dating and hilariously work out her trust issues.
It has been ages since I reviewed a movie! Unleashed was definitely a gem to come back with. 🙂 I will fully admit… right here and right now… that I am not always a fan of romantic comedies. There, I said it. Unleashed, though, had me laughing from the start. I can’t tell you the last time I have actually LOLed (laughed out loud) at a movie.
Emma is a bumbling, droopy character that you can’t help but love. She has the amazing friend that is in love with her and she doesn’t see it because she’s still so untrusting and heartbroken over her ex’s betrayal. She has the slightly odd friend who is pushing her out of her shell. All the classic elements of a romantic comedy with one special addition… her cat and dog.
One night, the cat and dog are transformed into humans. Soon the cat and the dog realize something…. now that they are human, only one will be able to stay with Emma. They set out to win her affections and Emma learns a thing or two about love. It leads to a series of gags that pet owners will really appreciate. It’s seriously funny seeing grown men take on the classic characteristics of a charismatic cat and a bumbling pooch. I will say, some of these moments may be a reason for you to not want your children to watch.
I don’t want to spoil the story, so I’ll stop here. I do recommend Unleashed as a great way to get a laugh and gain a little appreciation for your pet’s quirks. 🙂
