There I go again… missing a few days of updates and playing catch up. I’m going through a spell of minimal motivation. I just can’t find my oomph! I’ve been finding the motivation to exercise, but can’t seem to find the motivation to sit down and work. Spring Fever has caught me, I guess… I just want to be outside enjoying the sun we finally have here.


I ventured outside the meals a bit this past few days and allowed myself a bit of a treat… all while keeping it balanced and on plan. On Sunday I made homemade mini pizzas instead of having one of my pre-made meals. I used whole grain rolls, chicken breast, light cheese, and broccoli to make a personal pizza ringing in at 325 calories. Not at all bad for such a big indulgence.

I also had two indulgences outside the plan. Mom and I went out shopping and she was in the mood for some ice cream so we went to Dairy Queen. Thanks to their collaboration with Orange Julius, I was able to grab a light Berry Pomegranate smoothie for under 170 calories. I love that they have an option for those of us that are watching it. I can go out with family and friends for an ice cream treat and not feel like the weird outsider. I also had some chocolate candy later in the day. I was so in the mood for “real” chocolate, but I snacked smart by splitting a package of bite-size pieces rather than chowing down on a whole candy bar.

I experimented a bit with my veggies this week and created a mashed cauliflower dish to go alongside my steak sandwich. It was a pretty simple combination of cauliflower, pepper, ranch seasoning, and a wedge of Laughing Cow cheese. Lots of flavor and under 50 calories for a hefty serving.

New foods for this weekend included the Red Beans & Rice dish and the Orange Cream Bar. The rice portion of the Red Beans & Rice was sort of bland. By contrast, the sausage slices were very spicy. I think the sausage is actually what made the rice seem bland… it would have been better if the flavors were more balanced. I’m not a huge fan of what most people know as a Dreamsicle-type bar, so I’m not a fair judge on the Orange Cream Bar. It tasted very much like a Dreamsicle, so I guess you could say that is very good… if you’re a fan of them. 😛 It has a good strong orange flavor and is very creamy. The Prince was a huge fan… or at least I think so because he was wrestling the bar out of my hand!

Overall a good end to the week and start to week four. Can you believe we’ve come that far already? Wow! Now to go find some more motivation…

Skipping my usual calorie, protein, and fat counts. I’m not sure they are very accurate for these three days.
