As a practitioner of yoga, a believer in aromatherapy, and a fan of candles, it felt like a match made in the heavens when Aurorae offered me the opportunity to review their aromatherapy candles. With the holiday season drawing near, I chose their Pine/ Growth and Candy Cane/ Cooling candles.

When I opened my package the day it arrived, it smelled like a fresh pine tree decorated in candy canes. I could tell even before burning that the scent was natural and not overpowering. It was calming and soothing and instantly invoked a definite feeling of the holidays. The scent grew a bit more intense after being lit, but it sill stayed within a fragrant but not excessive range.

The candles burn very cleanly. I did not notice blackening of the wax and the smoke remained relatively light. This size candle gets about 30 to 35 hours of burn time and I could see that being quite accurate. I have burned mine for several hours and I do not see a noticeable change in the level. They are definitely a good quality soy-based candle.

I like the decorative tin package design. The label showcases the scent in an attractive way. I like little touches like the logo color being coordinated to the candle. Overall, well done.

I received the 6.8 ounce size candles, but they also come in a 26 ounce size with three wicks. I wish they offered another single-wick size in between… something in the 12 to 15 ounce range. Aromatherapy candles can be quite costly and these are no exception, so it would be nice to have a mid-range option. The smaller candles currently sell for $12.95 ($24.95 list price) and the larger for $29.95 ($58.00 list price). Even though the price is a bit high, the natural quality of the fragrance and the clean burning candle make this cost worth it to me. I’ve already added some extra scents to my wish list. I’m a big fan of ocean scents… I find them so calming… and I look forward to trying Aurorae’s Ocean/ perseverance candle next.

Cons: Costly.
