Personal Experience: I have worked with EatSmart in the past on travel gear and I looked forward to the opportunity to work with them again. They had wonderful timing when they asked me to review their latest product offering. My food thermometer had very recently “bit the dust” and I was on the lookout for a quality replacement.

The EatSmart Precision Elite Thermocouple Food Thermometer  was love at first sight. The sleek design and vibrant red case would look great among any kitchen’s gadgets. The probe folds down against the main part of the device, which saves space and protects the probe from damage. It also comes with a custom case for storage. A large back-lit display also makes this easy to read in almost any temperature-gathering situation.

You simply unfold the probe to turn on the device and close it to turn it off. The EatSmart Precision Elite Thermocouple Food Thermometer has helped us to accurately determine when foods are properly and completely cooked or at the desired temperature. It also comes in handy for checking the temperature of my son’s food. We no longer need to rely on touch to make sure his food is at a safe coolness to eat.

The thermometer uses InstaRead technology to get you your readings very quickly… in 3 seconds or less. It can go from boiling liquid to an icy mixture and back again and still give you accurate readings in a snap.

Overall, I have been very happy with this thermometer. It has been more than I could have ever expected as a replacement for my old thermometer. I feel like I upgraded from a lemon to a Lamborghini!

Pros: Fast and accurate readings in just seconds. Sleek design with a convenient back-lit display. Two year warranty. Anti-microbial carrying case. Folding design saves space.

Cons: It’s definitely higher than many people may be willing to pay for a kitchen thermometer, but you do get what you pay for here… it’s worth the investment.

  4. I just read a review somewhere on food safety and they talked about the importance of taking the temperature of your meat; something I never do, but with this it looks so simple, and better to be safe than sorry

  7. I like this one. I have the more common food thermometer I use it when making cheese curds. It is definitely a hassle at times.

    • I used that more common type as well. Once I used this, I realized how much I disliked my old one. It was definitely an upgrade.

  9. I like a nice responsive digital thermometer for the kitchen. Years ago I wanted a digital thermometer mostly for checking meats and I finally found one. One nice thing about this one is that the probe folds to protect it and make it easier to store where the ones I have now are all fixed probes. Also mine has a much smaller display and one is thermocouple which provides the fast response, but the other is a thermistor which takes much longer to settle on the temperature.

  11. This does look nice! Mine quit working recently, and I’m a bit uncomfortable estimating meat doneness (especially with all the grilling this time of year), so I’m in the market for a new one. I really like how neatly this one stores.

    • Oh yeah… grilling is a great place to put these to use! I’m usually afraid to do much grilling beyond hamburgers and hot dogs for fear of undercooking, but this is opening up a whole new menu. :)

  13. I can think of numerous times that I wished I had one of these! I’ve never owned one but used to cook for a restaurant and used them daily. Such a great device to have. Often, I end up overcooking food just to be on the safe side. I really need to get one of these.
