Personal Experience: It can be hard to find quality shoes for the big-footed guys in my life… especially at reasonable prices… so I felt very fortunate when Lugz teamed up with me for another review. I previously reviewed a pair of their men’s steel-toe boots. This time my nephew, who wears a size 13D, had the opportunity to experience Lugz.
The overall quality seems to be at the same standard of their work boots, which is a good thing! This certainly isn’t what I expected when they asked me to review a “canvas” shoe. The upper and tongue are heavy-weight and padded like an athletic shoe. The sole is thick and supportive. Strong, neat, and small stitches throughout indicate a shoe built to last.
They come with two laces… one blue and one in a matching grey, so you have a spare pair of laces right away and two different looks to play with. My only real concern is the lace hoops. They are stitched in, but they were already showing some pulling from the first time my nephew tied the shoes. I’m concerned that these will be the first point of wear and could tear out relatively soon compared to the life of the rest of the shoe. I will update on this in time… assuming he doesn’t outgrow them first!
He has been very happy with them ad reports that they are comfortable to wear. They are a stylish basic shoe and they suit him ad his personal style very well. It may be an issue particular to his size, but he did report some rubbing in the wide area of the foot on each side just behind the toes. He’s found this problem in a few shoe brands, though.
Overall, everyone is really loving these shoes and my husband is a bit jealous that he passed this one up. That’s what he gets for saying “no” to a canvas shoe!
Pros: Great basic style that will appeal to a variety of ages. Great construction and a comfortable shoe. Spare laces offer a change of look. This style also comes in black with red spare laces, white, and brown camo.
Cons: The lace hoop doesn’t seem to be the sturdiest element of these. If your foot runs a bit wide around the toe area, you may experience some rubbing.
