Pretty Good reached out to me to share a fun new subscription box idea… beautiful artisan soaps delivered to your doorstep each month. They sent me their current box to try and share my thoughts with you. (I will be receiving additional boxes and will update this post with further thoughts at that time.) When I opened my mailbox the day it arrived, my mailbox smelled like I had opened an oven full of Thanksgiving treats! The combination of Pumpkin Spice, Cookie, and Coffee Mocha smelled good enough to eat!
The soaps work beautifully and lather up very well. They have been gentle on our skin. The scent lingers with me for the majority of the day. In fact, the first day I used the Pumpkin Spice, my husband came home and after giving me a kiss he asked if I had been baking. I like that the bars of soap are actually strong enough to scent our bathroom with pleasant aromas, but the scent is not overpowering once applied to the skin.
They have some wonderful business practices, such as buying in bulk, recycling, and staying chemical free where possible. They use home-grown ingredients when available and they’re even getting their own goats for milk. As you can see from the product labels in my photo, the ingredients lists are short and simple.
They offer a few options for subscriptions including boxes of scents geared toward men. The prices are very reasonable and the soaps make a wonderful gift idea for that hard to buy for person on your holiday gift lists. For me personally, the three bars of soap per month would probably be quite a bit more than I would typically need. Gifting the extras is definitely an option, but I love that Pretty Good also offers a “Little Box” of just one soap per month. At under $5 a month, it’s a great deal for such lovely artisan soaps!
My only complaint would be about the packaging and it’s only really an issue if you intend to gift any of your soaps. I know that the low-key packaging is intentional and I truly appreciate their stance. Pretty Good does their best to use recycled materials for packaging and likes to keep things simple, but the plain label lacks personality and I feel like it makes these wonderful soaps seem lower in quality. The owner and her business card have such amazing personality, so the designer in me would love to see that carried out in the labels and website a bit more.
Pros: Smell good enough to eat! Long-lasting scent. Great suds. Gentle on skin. Great price. Lots of subscription and one time purchase options.
Cons: Packaging needs a little oomph.
Pretty Good is a new subscription box delivering themed artisan soaps each month. They also offer quarterly boxes of eco-friendly home goods and quarterly boxes of 5-free nail polish.
